This morning on CBC Edmonton AM, I talked about restaurants, caterers, and food businesses that are offering takeout dinners for the holiday season. Below is information about all those places and more: from Sherwood Park to Spruce Grove; Nisku to St. Albert and of course, Edmonton.
Every business I list offers Christmas meals that will be ready between December 22 and December 24. Some are frozen, some are partially cooked, some are hot and ready to serve. Many restaurants that notified me last week on Twitter of their Christmas specials have already sold out, so things are moving very fast. The info posted below is subject to change so good luck in your quest! And while you’re at it, think about lining up dinner for New Year’s Eve, too.
That’s right, caterers: the people who usually cook for weddings, conferences and parties of 100 people or more are having a heck of a time through this pandemic. They’re set and ready to go for orders big or small. Give them a call.

Cena Catering, Sherwood Park – Christmas meal is for 5 to 6 people; nothing smaller, but hey, you’ll have leftovers if it’s only the two of you! Order by 5 p.m., December 20th.
Highlands Golf Club – 6603 Ada Blvd., Edmonton. Go to the middle of this page for the order form and information on what’s available. *Update: sold out but check their website for further announcements if they can expand their capacity.

St. Michael’s Health Group Edmonton – Traditional turkey dinner with pyrohy! Pick up only at 7408 – 139 Ave. Order by 5 pm, December 18. [Individual portions available]
The Butchery at Rge Rd – 12229 – 107 Avenue. Meal kits are available for pre-order on Tock. The shop is open Dec 19, 10 am to 4 pm (closed Sunday and Monday) so call 780-443-0000 to pre-order whatever you need (steaks, charcuterie boards, sausages, pate, whole chickens, elk, bison, pork, pickled veg, etc) for pick up Tuesday/Wednesday. Culina to Go – 12019 A – 102 Avenue, Edmonton. Offering individual Christmas turkey or vegetarian dinners. Turkey comes with stuffing, carrots, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and pickled onions. You can also add a Yule Log dessert. 48 hours notice required. [Individual portions available]
Meuwly’s – #101, 10706 124 Street, Edmonton – You’ve just missed out on the smoked turkeys and hams, but cheese and charcuterie kits are still available although I was told these are also going very fast, too. Avila Arepa – 10760 – 82 Avenue, Edmonton. My favourite place in the city for arepas and other South American street foods; Avila Arepa has a Noche Buena menu on their Facebook page. You can order until 3 pm, December 22.

The Chateau Louis has extended the ordering cutoff for their (gluten-free) Christmas Dinner takeout meal. You now have until Monday, December 21 to order.

Juniper Bistro – 9514 87 Street, Edmonton. The cutoff for dinner for four is December 21. The dinner-for-4 meal includes sautéed Brussels sprouts, baby smashed potatoes, turkey breast with lemon sage butter, gravy, Irving’s pork sausage with apricot and pistachios, dinner rolls, and apple crumble pie with a pint of KIND vanilla ice cream for dessert. The Marc – 9940 – 106 Street, Edmonton. Always fantastic food here and you can order wine, too. Order cutoff is for December 24 is three days prior (Dec 21), but don’t delay. Pick up for holiday dinner is on December 24th (Curbside 1:00 – 3:00 pm) [Individual portions available]
Sabor – 10220 – 103 Street – Christmas pre-orders will be taken Monday, December 21 starting at noon for pick up between 4 and 8 pm on Christmas Eve. Also, think about what you need for Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day! Family-Style options are available, and don’t forget to order wine, too!
