Five years ago I wrote a blog post about Duchess Bake Shop. They were new to Edmonton, and I was new to blogging. Unlike me, though, they had pizzazz, polish, and a whole lot of panache. My blogging? Not so much.

I had a chance to sit down with Giselle Courteau, one of three partners at what is now, one of the most respected bake shops in the country. They’ve matured, modified and expanded. What started as a five employee operation is now more than 10 times that.

I’m still a fan and I still get excited every time I walk through those doors. One of the best things to eat in Edmonton? A still-warm brioche pepin if you get it at just the right time.

In November, Giselle, Jake Pelletier and Garner Beggs released the Duchess Bake Shop Cook Book. It’s a beauty, and destined for Canada’s Best Seller List.

I wrote about the trio’s latest accomplishment for EatNorth.ca. You can read the article by clicking here.
