Residents of Highlands are breathing a sigh of relief now that Christian Mena and Lino Oliveira have set up shop at 6509 – 112  Avenue. Everyone is hoping that the successful Sabor team is here to stay. I think there is little to worry about; it seems this space has been waiting just for them.

The duo offers more Portuguese and Spanish fare in the form of shareable plates because, really,  why mess with a good thing?

The room has been tastefully renovated. It is warm and classy with masculine touches of wood and brick.  Large paintings with splashes of red suffuse the room with mediterranean sensuality.  A leg of Iberico ham hangs by the bar and the scent of garlic and lemon hang in the air. It is very comfortable here.

There were no missteps the night I visited; service was exceptional, and the food as wonderful as I hoped.
