There I was, minding my own busines in the Tim Hortons drive thru as I stuck my hand through the window to pay for my daily jolt, only to be told that the lady in front of me had already paid for my coffee.

What the heck? (Or “Whats the heck?” as my nephew Cole likes to say.)

Yes, thats right, I was a victim of a Random Act of Timness. I reacted by gushing  “oh wow…that was so nice of her!” and I drove off.

I tried to wave at my benevolent Horton-ite to  say thanks, to acknowledge her kindness, but she was busy talking to her kids and checking for oncoming traffic. I hoped she was answering her kids questions of “why did you do that mommy?” with something like “because its just nice sometimes to do things like that” but while I was having this conversation with myself, it dawned on me that what I should’ve done was react in kind to the person behind me. By then it was too late though; I was out of the line and there no where to go but straight ahead and get out of the way. Of course I felt like a shmuck.

So, this is what I’m wondering: have you been a victim of a Random Act of Timness? And if so, did you react like me by driving away wondering why someone would be so nice? Or are you one of those weird people who reacted quickly and calmly and kept the chain going?  I’m curious…
