2016: what a cow—and, as one of my Twitter friends said, “and not the tasty end either.”
Locally, our Edmonton food scene got off to a slow start but picked up steam mid-year. From there, we went full bore. We have a great city and I’m proud to cheer and promote it.
Read my ‘year in review’ article for Eat North here.
Also, I’d like to mention the release of two cookbooks: first (as a precautionary measure so as not to get my ass kicked by a certain blonde, bossy, bourbon-fuelled food blogger), Karlynn Johnston‘s wildly successful, Flapper Pie and a Blue Prairie Sky. It’s fun, beautiful and will take you on a trip down memory lane with the recipes she’s chosen.
Secondly, Edmonton Cooks, a compilation of recipes from Edmonton chefs curated and authored by Tina Faiz and Leanne Brown. If you want the secrets to popular dishes created by some of our top chefs, you’ll find them in this book. Congratulations to all on the release of these two gorgeous books.
Happy New Year! Eat well, drink responsibly and laugh long and often with good friends. Cheers!
