I’m starting to develop a very disturbing habit. It seems that when the weather in Edmonton even thinks about getting near zero degrees, I head north. Way north. Take right now for example. It is -1 Celsius in Edmonton so I hopped on a plane and headed 1300 kilometres north of Montreal to a little place called Sanikiluaq. Population 800, and where days of minus 30 Celsius are common and normal.

For kicks, we spent the day out on the land because staying indoors is for wimps (judging by all the townsfolk–including little kids and old people–that were running around on foot and skidoo). It was only minus 28, which meant (obvioulsy) it was a good day for fishing.
We weren’t fishing for fish though; we were after mussels and sea urchin. Yep, you heard me right, sea urchin. And it was good.

But as is usual the case in remote communities in the North, the internet connection is slow as molasses…especially molasses left out in the cold, so this story and more pictures will be posted after I get back South in a couple of days, and after I’ve thawed.
