There are only a few days left until our 5th Northern Food Night this Saturday, April 16th in the banquet room beside Bistro La Persaud at La Cite Francophone in Edmonton.

The staff at the Bistro have been busy slicing and dicing in preparation for the big event. The caribou has arrived along with the musk ox, Arctic Char, sea urchin, Davis Strait Shrimp and various other proteins from Canada’s northern reaches. Our chef friends from Ontario, Louis Charest and Paul Finkelstein, are on their way too to prepare (again) the type of meal they put together in Toronto in December at a Charlie’s Burgers event. If you don’t know about “Charlie”, click here.

Our past Northern Food Nights have been held at our house but this year’s dinner (a 5 course meal paired with Canadian wines) is going to be an extraordinary meal unlike anything anyone’s ever had in Edmonton. For those of you who haven’t heard already, we are going to be presenting this same meal at the James Beard Foundation in New York City on May 14th, so if you want to get a taste of what New Yorkers will be feasting on, you better get your tickets quick. The meal in Edmonton is priced far below what this meal cost in Toronto last December, and what it will cost in New York next month.

On April 16th you’ll taste amazing food, hear about our Arctic adventures, and have a chance to win airfare for two to anywhere Canadian North flies (valued up to $9,000!). Raffle tickets will sell for $50 each and the odds of winning are very good — only 60 people will be in attendance. Who knows, maybe Steve and I will act as your guides seeing as we travel throughout the North on a regular basis.

There are only a handful of tickets left, so if you want a taste of the Arctic prepared in haute cuisine style, click here and scroll down the page to where it says “click here to purchase tickets through PayPal”. Slow Food Members pay $80, non-members pay $100.

For more info on our last Northern Food Night, you can read about it here.  The upcoming NFN this Saturday is going to be insane! Don’t miss out!
